I’ve gotta say the Heemeyer Welding And Demolition Grandby Colorado Shirt Apart from…,I will love this Sennheiser MD421, the way it’s oriented is just not one many people expect when working with a microphone. It points ahead (to the left here) but not in relation to the face of the grill, which confuses people. However it’s an incredibly popular and amazing microphone. Another are the Ear Trumpet Labs Microphones, they have an interesting product line that is mostly inspired by steampunk aesthetics. Lastly, I’d say the Earthworks microphones, which are again amazing and highly acclaimed but look like some crazy rocket ship. Very unique look. Without going out buying anuthing, you could make one from a speaker and 2 bits of wire. The principle is the same, as a mic and speaker are both Transducers. So all you’d need is a form of transducer and your into mic making at its most basic level.
Dynamic mics are generally less sensitive than the Heemeyer Welding And Demolition Grandby Colorado Shirt Apart from…,I will love this electrostatic (capacitor) versions. Dynamic mics have a diaphragm with a coil attached. This coil moves within a magnetic field to generate a small voltage. You can increase sensitivity by adding more turns to the coil, but the coil mass increases in that case, and it becomes harder for the diaphragm to move it. This means the sensitivity increase is limited, and the mic will not handle high frequencies and transients so well. You can also increase the magnetic field, and modern mics use rare-earth magnets which have roughly doubled the output over the earlier Alnico types. However that still only puts these mics in the 1–2mV/Pa range rather than the 10–30mV/Pa of most capacitor mics. Tape: duct, gaff, electrical, cellophane of course. Coat hanger ,but you may need some tools to work it into shape. String or rope could work or a big old “c” clamp. Or maybe that black plastic thingy that came with the mic, sometimes called a mic holder. Next time you steal a mic be sure to grab the holder, might as well take the stand too.

I have been looking for a basic minimalist t-shirt for a long time. Added bonus they are incredibly soft.
